Tryouts

While I'm walking Cooper,
I hear the bat,
sweet, sweet sound,
resounding with a pop,
from the high school
across the street
and I know Ian’s safe
from all he could be doing
after school.

For just a moment, I feel
safer, too, knowing
baseball is back.
