The Dream
I read this poem at the first meeting of our stroke support group. I wrote this poem after meeting Lori for the first time (one of Jennifer's other speech clients). I was scared that I was not becoming better.
After that, I truly believed.
(And I'm thrilled that so many people came just for ME! Thank you.)
The Dream
Lately I've dreamt
a dream, every night
in which I could talk
Clearly and
With ease
Waking up, I try
to hang on, but
…sadness overwhelms me,
But only for a moment,
or two,
or…
how long must I put up with this?
Some days are easier,
some days it is harder,
but it's eventually,
Replaced with thanks,
For a new day
In which healing is taking place,
More than ever
Day by day,
Moment by moment,
Barely known
But it’s enough…
I grow into the dream,
I am living the dream.
