Exprayeriment #6 -- Breath of Gratitude

Gratitude is definitely an attitude…and it’s also a very powerful tool for this week’s Exprayeriment.
Choose a situation or an aspect of your life that you are particularly grateful for. The more specific you can be, the more intensely and clearly you can engage in the feelings associated with it. Spend a moment visualizing the situation, conjuring the physical and emotional sensations of your appreciation. Note the energy that moves through your body; immerse yourself in the peace or the giddiness or the anticipation that your gratitude elicits.
Then for five minutes, breathe deeply as you focus on the experience. As you inhale, draw in the tangible energy of gratitude; feel it flooding your body and your senses, turning your cells into light.
As you exhale, allow any resistance that might be triggered—feelings or thoughts of guilt, unworthiness, fear of loss or betrayal, etc.—to move out of you along with your outgoing breath. Breathe out strongly, if necessary, to encourage the darkness to clear. If you aren’t aware of any particular resistance, ask for the release of any unconscious blocks that might be in the way, or any that might arise in the future. Don’t judge the resistance; simply give it permission to go.
When you are finished with the deep breathing, allow your breath to return to normal, and notice the sensation of lightness and calm within you. Then repeat the prayer above ten times in a row, preferably out loud, to complete the meditation.
